INQUIRY REMINDER: How do media images affect an individual's identity and self-confidence? (how have these images specifically change my self-view)
DIGITAL COLLAGE MAKING: Intuitive looking, personal experiences, self-reflective
Quote from Survey about Body Image
"When we asked what shaped your body image during childhood and adolescence, most women and a significant minority of men reiterate the cultural theme that thinness is the key to happiness. But interpersonal factors also weigh heavily on most of us during development, and women rank them more important than men."

Repeated images in the media
Beauty is the topic of so many women targeted magazines
Old newspaper featuring a still-relevant topic
Blurred reflection: loss of identity, confusion,
Background image from Daria Petrilli, a surrealist artist
Connect to surrealism as unconscious thoughts about self can become inherent
SURVEY ABOUT MEDIA USE AND BEAUTY IDEAL
MOVING FORWARD
Create graphs for the survey
Printing collage images on doilies, other transparent paper materials (personal artifacts)
Layout book for final which will include my thesis text, collages, and photographs

RESEARCH REPORT
In my research findings so far I've discovered just how personal social media and media images can be and I've also uncovered for the survey responses so far that the majority of people feel the same way that I do in relation to media's effect on the individual. I've learned most about my own interaction with finding images and compiling them intuitively and how that in itself adds to my autoethnographic study. Creating collages without extensive planning I found has allowed possibly unconscious feelings to arise in the work as it's created; I'm not intentionally creating the subject but the subject is creating itself. So far with the timeline, I feel pretty on track with what I wanted to have completed by this time. Moving forward I want to create more collages enough to feature in my digital book and I'll be working on laying out my thesis into the pages of the book along with the images etc.
